I am married to Crystie. We’ve been a family for 32 years. We are empty-nesters with three children, a daughter-in-law, a son-in-law, and a new grandson. Our kids live in Austin, Houston, and Anchorage. So…we’re spread a little thin.
I love Texas Bar-B-Q. My favorite book and movie: “To Kill a Mockingbird.” Atticus Finch was a man’s man. I like football. I play at golf. I love to read. Someday I might write a book.
If I could have coffee with anyone in the world, it would be…. you. Let’s get together.
After almost 30 years as a senior pastor, I have stepped into a new role as an associate pastor. I am primarily a teacher now. I focus on teaching, leading, and loving…not a bad job description. I am part of an amazing staff and amazing church.
I am learning about change. My role has changed and my thinking and attitude have had to change. It’s a big learning curve. It gives me ideas to think about and talk about.
A large part of ministry for me has been encouraging and coaching marriages. I had always heard the saying (not biblical, of course) that God takes care of fools and little children. When Crystie and I got married, we were both. And our marriage survived. It seems that we are uniquely equipped to encourage people in their marriage. And we love to do that.
